  • World Food Day 2020

    The global World Food Day (WFD) ceremony will take place as a virtual event at 14.00 CET on Friday, 16 October, and will include speeches and video messages from FAO Special Goodwill Ambassadors for Nutrition Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain and King Letsie III of Lesotho, His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic of Italy, His Holiness Pope Francis, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the three heads of the Rome-based agencies. The ceremony will be followed by a lecture on “The Role of Policy, Innovation, Bio-economy and SDGs in Agri Food System Transformation” by Professor Joachim von Braun. FAO’s first-ever video mapping show will take place at 19.30 CET to mark FAO’s 75th anniversary and World Food Day at the world-renowned Colosseum and on the façade of the FAO headquarters’ building .
